This video is an explainer video on how to notate sheet music with advanced time signatures and rhythms. In fact, the composition that I am looking at in this video has two different time signatures in one measure. Yup, you heard that right! I will explain exactly what this means, but in a fun video format. We take a look at an overlooked Ukrainian #composer, Sergei #Bortkiewicz in my next #canitscore video, which is a part of a series. This composer may be overlooked, but his music deserves a shoutout. He's known for his #Romantic style, and as you may or may not know, the Romantic style can have some pretty weird rhythms and time signatures. Perfect! Let's put Music Jotter to the test. Bortkiewicz absolutely cannot be notated if a music notation application doesn't have an advanced time signature and tuplet system. So I am going to demonstrate to you exactly how we are going to notate Sergei Bortkiewicz's #Etude, "La blonde." ✅ Subscribe if you want the power and accessibility Music Jotter can bring via the web: /@ musicjotter 0:00 Strange Time Signatures I discovered 0:45 First glance at Bortkiewicz's Etude 1:37 Basic time signature explanation 2:33 How do we notate 18/16? 3:09 How do we notate 12/16? 5:09 How do we notate 9/16 and 6/16? 6:15 Two different time signatures explained 6:43 Conclusion and Music Appreciation Suggestion
