RC Spider alternative transmitter

My plan for this rc spider is eventually to make it into an 8 oar rowing boat, but at the moment I enjoy it too much to take it apart. However using an ordinary forwards/backwards/left/right transmitter is a little confusing when it really needs a 'tank controller' type with both sticks facing forwards/backwards as you are controlling left and right motors. Today I suddenly realised the controller that came with my Fast Lane Hover Glider would do the job properly and here we are.
