The Atlantic and Pacific oceans are the first places that come to mind when thinking of enormous trophy fish. But large fish do exist in freshwater ecosystems everywhere. Recently, a gigantic stingray weighing 661 pounds was caught in Cambodia, making it the largest freshwater fish ever recorded and shattering the previous record held by a Mekong giant catfish caught in Thailand in 2005. That such massive fish may be located and caught in freshwater systems is demonstrated.
